Certified to Rock August 2011 Score Update for Drupalcon London
Hello Drupal fans,
Hot on the heels of the announcement of our groupies program designed to expand Certified to Rock and make it more community driven, we are releasing a new set of scores. We are excited to announce the first new groupies though we are still solidifying the group. Look for an announcement on that in the coming weeks and remember that if you would like to join we are looking for candidates (see the post for details on how to join).
This update is a "resource refresh" meaning that we didn't add any new metrics or change weights or calculation functions in the algorithm. Quick guide: resources are information we scrape from drupal.org. metrics are individual elements of those resources, a specific set of weights and calculations are used to tabulate the final 1-to-11 score in an algorithm.
Congratulations to Peter Wolanin who jumped up two spots to become an 11 and to Jesse Beach who moved the most of any user in this update. Without revealing too many secrets, we can say that those two changes were both caused by some changes to underlying data that happened as part of the migration to use Git on drupal.org. Our next improvement to metrics and algorithms will be tweaked a bit to take better advantage of this information. And of course progress cannot be stopped. Even as we work to adjust for current changes folks are busy planning for even more fine-grained attribution of credit for work. We encourage everyone to use the "--author" attribution mechanism available now if that seems appropriate on an issue and to weigh in on the discussion about how to give even more credit.
The usual caveats apply, of course: scores may go down in the future, while the system includes 82,000 of the best contributors to Drupal it's missing a few folks, don't ask what elements go into determining scores, please suggest ways we can improve the system, Drupalers of the world are rockstars and we are your humble groupies.

Another vote for a database refresh!
Certified to Rock for companies
What about a Certified to Rock score for companies that measures their community participation? This would probably be harder than scoring individuals, but would provide some guidance or at least talking points when a person is interviewing or when an organization is seeking a vendor. At its simplest, it could be an average of the scores of the people who work at the company.
The idea would be to use it as a way to encourage more companies to actively participate rather than just riding on what their employees do in their spare time.
Over half a year from the
Over half a year from the last update, how about triggering a new crawl?
Indeed
It wouldn't be a big deal but there are Drupal shops that use CTR numbers as a criterion for hiring.
So is CTR dead or why it has
So is CTR dead or why it has been so long from the last update? And what about the people that are missing from the list? Will they be added if they have informed their details as it is guided in the 'About CTR' section?
not dead yet
Hi folks,
I apologize for the delay. We thought we were going to be able to keep with the "every 3 months" schedule but we fell behind. We are updating it for Drupalcon Denver, though, and are including everyone who followed the instructions on how to get included in the index. We're still trying to figure out what time-frame the site can reasonably be updated and will try to announce that in April. With Drupalcon coming to Denver a lot of the folks who work on this site are busy prepping for Drupalcon itself.
If you want to help us justify spending time on this, add a link from your blog or drupal.org profile to your certified to rock page. If you don't have a page yet but asked to be included in the next version then we just hope you'll do that step when we do include you.
Thanks for your patience and passion!
I can say that if our passion for the project ever does "die" we will open source the code so others can keep the project alive.
Will CTR be updated during Drupalcon?
The third day of Drupalcon Denver will start soon and CTR has not been updated ... I start to believe that CTR is about to die, even if it is not, yet... However, I have to commend you that keeps the project for a great volunteer effort so far!
Last Updated date
Greg,
Thanks for the update and all on the volunteer work people are doing on the site. I think it would be helpful and maybe help with people's impatience if there was a "Last updated" or "as of" date on the main ctr page. It seems the scores will always be a snapshot of a certain time. If the times between updates become further apart it would good if the page reflected that.
Those of us within the Drupal community realize that the scores are not and cannot be a up-to-date evaluation of any user but this would not be obvious to someone outside the community. As the scores seem to be used within and without the community as a part of evaluation processes it would be good to give viewers some idea that scores are a snapshot from a certain time.
Thanks

Any News?
As my Yiddish-speaking grandmother would have said - "So nu?"
It's over a month past Drupalcon Denver and April is nearly over - will there be an update anytime soon?
Is CTR, like the Dread Pirate Roberts, only mostly dead, or really most sincerely dead, like the Wicked Witch of the West?
"With the recent acquisition
"With the recent acquisition of GVS by Acquia many people are curious what will happen to Certified to Rock."
Well, seems like at least we got answer to that question.
While i appreciate the work
While i appreciate the work you have done, with this update interval, this is starting to hurt the developers more than help. People like Dries, Webchick, chx, etc. do not need this certificate anyway, and new contributors do not get any credit for their work and look bad on the market. Remember, when you call it a CERTIFICATE, you affect community members employability directly. You should carry the responsibility or take the site down.
With a great power comes a great responsibility
Hi, we really appreciate this site, but if this is not going to be updated any often I must agree that is hurting developers.
"With a great power comes a great responsibility" -- Spiderman
You guys should really look forward to update it or be responsable and take it down because it became obsolete.
Please update this.
Thanks for all the effort.
CTR is dead
We must accept that CTR is dead! It is May 4, 2012 and the scores were last updated 9 months ago... I really appreciate the work with this certificate and it is unfortunate that it ends like this...
great!
How did Biot arrive at the partial differential equation? [the heat conduction equation] . . . Perhaps Laplace gave Biot the equation and left him to sink or swim for a few years in trying to derive it. That would have been merely an instance of the way great mathematicians since the very beginnings of mathematical research have effortlessly maintained their superiority over ordinary mortals.
RIP CTR
I can safely say that to know CTR was to love CTR. And to love CTR was to know CTR. Those who knew CTR, loved CTR, while those who did not know CTR, loved CTR from afar.
Update?
Without even the Drupal 101 submitted by themed correctly, I really wonder about this site. Drupalcon Denver has been and gone (Mar 27 2012) and the site is still not updated.
Is the import really that hard to set up? And if so, do you need help scripting it?
This is not funny.
Atleast the authors could comment something.
Becoming a groupie
I have contacted all the 'goupies' asking to become a groupie so that I can look at getting the index up to date. It's really sad that such a great site hasn't been updated in a long time.
This is kind of a silly
This is kind of a silly concept anyway - it rates involvement over skills and knowledge. I'd far rather hire a developer that has build many sites and contributed little than one that has contributed a lot but does not have site build experience. Just my opinion.
